Sports become a pleasant challenge for many children. Although not all children strive to become professional athletes, almost everyone enjoys playing sports games in their yard with friends. That is why we prepared several competitions for children, creating a wonderful opportunity to play together, in large quantities, with sports equipment that they are not used to. The children were taught new and unusual games, which for many became simply “Wow!”
The sports festival for children was not only a day of physical testing. As in all our festivals, the program was accompanied by moments of singing, handicrafts and conversations.
Time was also devoted to the educational part – the children were told about the world champion in athletics – Eric Liddell. This athlete became famous for the fact that his victories were closely related to the desire to be obedient to God. He had to participate in the competition on Sunday, when he had to lead Sunday services in church. Therefore, he had to give up the short-distance race (where he usually won) and participate in the 400-meter race, which was not his strong side. However, to everyone’s surprise, he won the gold medal in the 400-meter race. He brought victory to Scotland at the world championship and showed the whole world how powerful God is to help those who love God. This story inspired the children to believe that there is a God who is able to do great miracles.
Our sports festival ended with awards, refreshments, and singing. The children return home in great spirits after a very active day.
